The Very Special Kids 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge is an experience like no other.

Established in 2012, this flagship fundraiser challenges participants to keep treadmills in continuous motion for 24 hours to help fund 24-hour care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

Very Special Kids provides holistic palliative care for seriously ill children and tailored support for their families – through life, death and bereavement. As Victoria’s only children’s hospice, our free-of-charge services support families across the state.

By raising funds as part of the 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge, you can help ensure children and families receive the support they need. Together we hope to raise $1 million in 2026, so no family goes on this journey alone.

This event is like nothing you’ve ever experienced. With 36 treadmills whirring for 24 hours, it’s non-stop action, music, entertainment, food and special surprises – including prizes for top fundraisers and winning costumes. The snacks, food and refreshments flow for the whole 24 hours, with everything from chocolate muffins and party pies to fruit, burgers and a delicious breakfast on Saturday morning. You won’t go hungry! The entertainment is also next level, with DJ’s spinning throughout the event, plus special guests, performers, games and fun activities for all ages.

The best thing about the 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge is it’s for absolutely everyone! You can walk slowly the whole time, mix it up with some jogging, or even run flat out for 30 minutes. Every age is welcome because you choose your pace – and you can even choose your costume! Some teams dress to a theme, some people come as superheroes, while others simply wear the most colourful outfits they can.
